Last year, the eponymous Electric Eden, an environmental drama sweeping through Edinburgh Fringe Festival, was unveiled at the 19th China Shanghai International Arts Festival in 2017. 2017 Shanghai International Arts Festival was held from October 20 to November 19, and WE Culture Communication and the story of Eden met with Shanghai fans.
“Electric Eden” was created by the NOT TOO TAME Theater Company from Wales, England and premiered at the 2016 Fringe Festival. The company has been adhering to the concept of “Breaking the Barrier” and has introduced many immersive and environmental plays dedicated to breaking the “fourth wall” between the audience and the stage.
Unlike traditional theatres, Electric Eden takes place in a real bar . On that day, you walk into a bar on any given day as usual, and Electric Eden will take you to Scotland immediately … Here a group of youth is crying out for an old man who loves to sing. They protested that the nursing home rudely prevented the elderly from singing and caused the unfortunate death of the elderly. They appeal to the law to impose sanctions on the nursing home and be responsible for the death of the elderly. However, with the constant temptation of money provided by nursing homes, there seems to be a tendency to fall apart from the voiced organizations.
In Electric Eden, you will see the struggles of the middle class and the superiority of the elite class. The contradictions between the two social classes are constantly intensified and highlighted. In the game and trade-offs, isthe fairness of the deceased is more important or the pensions theliving beings received?
This story, rooted in the Scottish social context, will be staged in the most exciting and stimulating bar environment of electronic music. On the one hand, the story tries to pinpoint the shortcomings of the audience and provokes reflection on social phenomena by the audience. On the other hand, The special environment can not only close the distance between the audience and the performers, but also allow you to fully experience the charm of the show, but also full of entertainment atmosphere, fresh and interesting.
